info

The architecture and furniture of Oscar Hagerman (b. 1936) go to the very heart of the matter, starting from an austere simplicity. For more than fifty years, Hagerman has worked in rural communitites all over Mexico designing and building schools, houses, clinics, and other community projects. His architecture, made of 'materials taken straight from the earth', and his furniture design: 'the smallest of architectures', are both subtle approaches to creating an ongoing dialogue between culture and place.
